I’m very open about being on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). People hire me as a coach, and I feel responsible for being 100% transparent about everything I’m doing for my health and performance.
Many of my clients are not on hormone replacement therapy, while many others are – both men and women.
One thing I’m criticized for is the dosage of testosterone I take weekly. Some people even accuse me of steroid abuse.
I take 240mg of testosterone per week, but it’s broken up into two doses of 120mg each. I take one intramuscular injection on Monday, and one on Thursday.
Why do I do this?
My levels peak around 1,000 ng/dL, and over the next 3.5 days they drop down to 700 ng/dL. Through the course of the week, by injecting twice, I keep my levels between 700 and 1,000 ng/dL all week long. You want your hormones to remain as consistent as possible.
Many people only pin once a week. In my opinion, this is an outdated method of taking testosterone. I recommend injecting intramuscularly twice a week – or microdosing subcutaneously – to maintain a level dosage throughout the week, instead of peaking and then dropping. I personally don’t enjoy microdosing because I don’t want to inject frequently.
