Here are 3 things I do with my clients besides strength training.
I’ve been a trainer in the Larchmont, NY area for more than a decade, and I’ve worked with hundreds of clients between the ages of 35 and 70 who are working professionals.
✅ Plyometrics: As we age, our bones get more brittle. We’re going to be subject to sarcopenia and losing muscle mass. One of the most effective things you do to combat that, besides weight training, is plyometrics like high jumps and box jumps.
✅ High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT): One of the leading indicators of longevity of life span is your VO2 MAX. One of the best ways you can improve that is a 1:1 ratio of all-out exercise and then rest. My clients use SkiErgs and AirDynes to go 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off to push themselves, take a break, and then go right back to it.
✅ Mobility: Strength training with full range of motion is actually extremely effective at improving mobility. But I also give my clients exercises specifically to increase mobility. This will help you get into workout positions, and strength training will get you out of them.
