What’s happening with David Bar and their most recent lawsuit? It’s all about calorimetry.
Calorimetry = a method in which you burn food to determine the number of calories in it.
This is often a good method of determining calorie content. However, David Bars contain EPG, which is a fermented fat that’s not absorbable by the human gut.
Another example of this is insoluble fiber. This is not digestible. It binds to water and then gets flushed out of your body. So even when you burn the food and the calorie count is greater, it doesn’t necessarily translate to the human body.
In the past, I’ve been very critical of David bars, and they have answered some of the concerns I’ve had. However, this newest lawsuit is just headlines from people who do not understand nutrition.
