It’s been the consensus of nutritionists for decades that most of what you eat should be coming from single-ingredient foods, so at least he and I can agree on that. You should be doing your best to avoid foods with nutrition labels on them for a plethora of reasons, probably the least of which is seed oil.

Americans are suffering from obesity at an astounding rate. This is because of our sedentary lifestyles and our massive portion sizes. I would absolutely agree that most of your food should be coming from protein and fruits, but where we disagree drastically is that plants are dangerous for human beings to consume. We are omnivores, our ancestors have been surviving primarily on a diet of vegetation for centuries. I mean how f***ing hard do you think it was to kill a woolly mammoth with a piece of rock attached to a stick to form a spear?

Why on earth would I want you to teabag your kettlebell? Because you should be standing directly overtop of it. You want to think about this thing slicing you right in half. HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training): Short, Explosive Intervals, Followed by a Period of Rest

HIIT (high intensity interval training) means you’re doing short, explosive intervals, followed by a period of rest. You can work until you complete a particular distance, period of time, or to reach a heart rate goal. You then follow with a recovery period of either a predetermined amount of time or until your heart rate goes back down. Here I’m aiming for 80-90% of my max heart rate, so usually 160-180 beats per minute. HIIT is great for improving your anaerobic threshold and VO2max. It also causes EPOC, which means you burn calories after exercise. Just remember, 80% of your cardio should be zone 2, or approximately 110-130 BPM.

Triceps Extension: An Issue with Stability

Everybody likes a great triceps pump, but the issue with is it ends up becoming an issue with scapular stability because you can’t keep your shoulder blades retracted. Let me show you a better way.

We’re going to take a seat on the bench and use this as a tactile cue (a point of contact that helps us keep our shoulder blades squeezed around the object) so we can put all the emphasis on our arms and not on our shoulders.

Zone 2️⃣ Cardio: Improves Health Markers and Increases Cardiovascular Endurance

Zone 2 cardio should be 80% of your cardio, leaving room for the other 20% to be what you enjoy or some sort of HIIT-style cardio. The only exception to this is if you have a specific sport or hobby that requires you to do a majority of your cardio in a different zone (ie maybe if you play a sport like lacrosse or if you are intensely training for a marathon). Zone 2 cardio is keeping your heart rate between 110-130 BPM. The American Heart Association recommendation is 75 mins of intense cardio or 150 mins of moderate cardio weekly.

Some of the benefits of zone 2 cardio are:
💥Lowers resting heart rate
💥Decreases blood pressure
💥Increases mitochondrial efficiency
💥Improves insulin resistance

Halloween 🎃🍫🍬 Regardless of how well you prepare you’re probably going to be surrounded by candy. I often tell you that discipline is a fallacy, but in this case despite your preparation there are moments you’re going to have to rely on simply saying no. Remember:

1️⃣ There are no magic foods. Having a piece of candy will not ruin your fat loss progress.

2️⃣ Know thyself. Can you eat a single piece of candy like a complete sociopath, or are you like me and if you eat one fun size Snickers you’re going to eat 100 fun size Snickers?

3️⃣ Having candy around that you don’t enjoy is easier than having candy you do enjoy. If your kids bring home your favorite candy, make it magically disappear in the middle of the night.
